Ik gebruik het woord verplegen bij gebrek aan een betere. Het was altijd beperkt tot weinig meer dan het toedienen van medicijnen en het aanbrengen van kompressen. Het zou juist moeten duiden op een correct gebruik van frisse lucht, licht, warmte, reinheid, rust en de juiste keuze en toediening van voeding, dit alles tegen de minste afname van de patiënt zijn levenskracht.
